Deoxycholic acid

Deoxycholic acid is the active ingredient used in injectable fat reduction under the chin. In Canada it is available as Belkyra®.

Overview

How deoxycholic acid works

Deoxycholic acid occurs naturally in the body, where it helps break down dietary fat. In injectable form, it disrupts fat cells in a small, targeted area.

It is used for submental fat, the fullness under the chin. It is not a weight-loss treatment and is not suitable for every area.

Often considered for
  • Moderate fullness under the chin
  • Good skin elasticity in the area
  • A preference for a non-surgical option
How Fountain uses it

At Fountain, deoxycholic acid is given as Belkyra® after a physician confirms that fat, rather than loose skin, is the main concern.
