Upper lid blepharoplasty
Upper lid blepharoplasty removes excess upper eyelid skin, and sometimes fat, to open the eyes and reduce hooding.
How upper lid blepharoplasty works
The incision sits in the natural eyelid crease, so the scar is usually well hidden. It is performed under local anaesthetic.
Bruising and swelling are common for one to two weeks. Excess skin is different from ptosis, which involves the eyelid muscle.
- Hooded upper eyelids
- Excess skin resting on the lashes
- A tired appearance
A physician assesses skin, brow position and eyelid function. See ptosis.
