Sun damage
Years of UV exposure show up as spots, texture, redness and lines. Some sun damage is also a medical concern, so it is worth a proper look.
About sun damage
Sun damage, sometimes called photoaging, includes brown spots, broken vessels, roughness, uneven tone and early lines. It accumulates over decades, including from everyday exposure.
Some rough, scaly spots are actinic keratoses, which are precancerous. A physician-led assessment means these are recognised and treated appropriately rather than simply covered up.
- Brown spots on the face, chest or hands
- Rough or scaly patches
- Redness and visible small vessels
- Uneven texture and tone
We examine sun-exposed skin before suggesting cosmetic treatment. Options may include Clear + Brilliant®, VBeam® for redness, PicoWay® for pigment, or photodynamic therapy where precancerous changes are present.
A spot that is new, changing, bleeding or not healing should be assessed as a medical concern. See skin checks.
Consultation, treatment and follow-up
Assessment
A physician examines the skin, asks about history and triggers, and confirms what the concern actually is before any treatment is suggested.
A plan and a cost
Options are explained with realistic expectations and limits. Where treatment is cosmetic, the full cost is quoted before anything is booked.
Follow-up
Progress is reviewed at an interval suited to the condition, and the plan is adjusted if the skin does not respond as expected.
Where treatment is cosmetic, cost depends on the treatment, the area and the number of sessions, so it is quoted at consultation once a plan exists. Results vary between individuals.

Can sun damage be reversed?
Many visible signs can be improved. Daily sun protection prevents further damage and helps maintain results.
Should I have a skin check first?
If you have significant sun damage, a skin check is a sensible first step before cosmetic treatment.
